Job Title:
National Transport Manager
Responsibilities:
- Cost, manage, and optimise the national fleet to ensure efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Develop cost estimates for fleet requirements for new customers
- Oversee the day-to-day operations of the national transport department
- Manage the tracking department, including vehicle tracking systems and in-vehicle camera systems
- Ensure all fleet repairs and routine maintenance are completed timeously and to standard
- Ensure all vehicles are licensed, compliant, and roadworthy (including COFs)
- Maintain accurate records of all assets and equipment, ensuring proper management and control
- Ensure all vehicle servicing is completed in line with manufacturer specifications
- Monitor, analyse, and report on national fuel consumption and vehicle performance
- Authorise and manage all fleet repairs and maintenance via the Fleet Management Portal
- Oversee preventative maintenance programmes for the fleet
- Ensure compliance with insurance requirements and manage the claims process
- Plan and implement annual vehicle and transport budgets
- Manage recruitment of permanent and temporary transport staff
- Coordinate staff activities, responsibilities, and disciplinary processes in line with company policy
- Conduct performance appraisals and support employee development initiatives
- Manage and maintain leave records for the transport department
- Investigate and report on all incidents and accidents with supporting documentation
- Identify and implement driver training and development programmes
- Manage traffic violations and related processes
- Maintain and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
- Prepare operational reports and presentations as required
- Stay up to date with industry trends and developments in the transport sector
Qualifications:
- National Senior Certificate (Matric)
- Degree or Diploma in Transport Management.
