Payroll Manager
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Payroll & Invoicing Manager to oversee both payroll and client invoicing functions. This role is responsible for ensuring accurate and timely employee payroll, maintaining statutory compliance, and managing the end-to-end invoicing process. Working closely with HR, Finance, and Operations, the successful candidate will ensure data accuracy, streamline administrative processes, and support efficient financial operations and business growth.
Responsibilities & Skills:
Payroll Management & Compliance
- Manage the end-to-end monthly and weekly payroll process, ensuring accuracy and timely payment.
- Ensure compliance with South African payroll legislation, including SARS, UIF, SDL, tax, deductions, and garnishments.
- Administer payroll-related employee benefits, including leave, medical aid, and retirement fund contributions.
- Respond to payroll-related queries and provide support during internal and external financial audits.
- Maintain payroll data integrity and accurate employee records.
Invoicing & Billing Administration
- Prepare and issue accurate invoices based on project milestones, engineering hours, and service agreements.
- Resolve client billing queries to support an efficient accounts receivable process.
- Collaborate with Project Managers and Engineering teams to verify billable work and manage project variations.
- Reconcile monthly invoicing against the general ledger in collaboration with the Finance team.
- Ensure the accuracy and completeness of all billing and invoicing records.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Relevant qualification in Finance, Accounting, Human Resources, or a related field is advantageous.
- Proven experience managing the full payroll process and corporate invoicing/billing cycles.
- Previous experience within the engineering, industrial, construction, or mining sectors is highly advantageous.
- Strong knowledge of South African payroll legislation, including SARS, UIF, SDL, labour laws, tax, and garnishment regulations.
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and experienced with payroll and accounting software such as Sage, Pastel, or similar systems.
- Strong analytical and numerical skills with exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and with clients.
- Valid driver's license and own reliable transport (essential).
