Responsibilities:
• Implement site-specific Integrated Management System (IMS), including:
- Conducting on-site safety training
- Ensuring appropriate safety resources are in place in line with project scope
- Reviewing and approving subcontractor safety plans and ensuring full compliance before sign-off
- Establishing and maintaining a Health and Safety communication structure
- Developing and implementing a planned task observation system
- Preparing and maintaining Health and Safety files in line with legislation and company policies
- Implementing, communicating, and assessing site-specific emergency response plans
• Maintain and continuously improve the site-specific Integrated Management System:
- Identify risks and liabilities and address non-compliance
- Drive continuous improvement of the IMS
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001 (and applicable 18001 legacy requirements)
- Maintain site-specific legal compliance
- Prevent recurrence of incidents through investigation, reporting, and communication
- Ensure ongoing adherence to on-site health and safety standards
• Ensure compliance with legal, company, and site-specific requirements:
- Stay up to date with all relevant legal requirements as communicated
- Ensure all legal, organisational, and site-specific health, safety, and environmental requirements are met
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered with SACPCMP as a Health and Safety Officer (proof of registration required)
- 3–5 years’ experience in a SHE Officer role within building construction
- Matric Certificate
- SAMTRAC, NEBOSH, or equivalent health and safety certification
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
- Strong internet research and analytical skills
- National Environmental Management Act
- Occupational Health and Safety Act
- National Road Traffic Act
- Applicable municipal by-laws
- Company policies and procedures
- Good understanding of construction processes, equipment, materials, and products
- Experience with ISO standards implementation and compliance (ISO 9001, 14001, 45001; and 18001 legacy systems)
- Valid driver’s licence (essential)
- Strong communication skills with excellent command of English (spelling, grammar, and punctuation); Afrikaans and Xhosa advantageous

- Strong planning, organising, prioritising, and time management skills
- Ability to analyse numerical, verbal, and qualitative information to produce reports and solutions.
