Job Title:
Millwright
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Millwright who is responsible for installing, dismantling, repairing, reassembling, and relocating machinery within factory and power plant environments. The successful candidate will develop and implement maintenance plans to ensure equipment operates as efficiently as possible. They will also respond to emergency breakdowns, providing prompt repairs to minimise downtime and maintain operational continuity.
Responsibilities:
- Attend to equipment breakdowns and ensure minimal downtime
- Implement preventative maintenance plans to reduce equipment failures
- Conduct regular inspections to identify hazards, defects, and repair requirements
- Perform scheduled maintenance and support plant shutdown activities
- Assist with cost estimates, drawings, and preliminary sketches
- Install and connect new equipment, including PLCs and inverter variable drives
- Ensure compliance with electrical and safety standards
- Troubleshoot and repair electronic, electrical, and computer-based equipment
- Analyse electronic circuits and perform fault finding, testing, and repairs
Qualifications & Experience:
- Millwright (Electrical/Mechanical) trade qualification
- Grade 12 certificate
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a production or industrial environment
- Strong electrical knowledge (advantageous)
- Experience with pneumatics and hydraulics
- Solid mechanical skills, including conveyor systems
- Knowledge of single-phase (220VAC) and three-phase (up to 400VAC) electrical systems
- Understanding of process systems, including electronics, control valves, PLCs, software, and hardware
- Computer literacy in MS Office
