Product Industrialisation:

• Conduct in-process design reviews and provide design input in collaboration with the R&D department.
• Investigate, troubleshoot, and resolve issues on existing and new product designs.
• Perform mechanical and thermal simulations.
• Test and qualify products against applicable international standards.
• Design and develop product testing methods.
• Develop new product design and qualification specifications.
• Provide design recommendations to ensure compliance with product requirements.
• Improve existing product designs to reduce manufacturing costs and increase efficiency.
• Provide production support, including assembly guidance, test instructions, and training.
• Develop production and test equipment, including manufacturing documentation packs for local and international production facilities.
• Verify:
  • New product tooling.
  • Compliance of new and existing products with design requirements.
• Liaise with local and international suppliers, including Chinese manufacturing partners.

Research Responsibilities:

• Research new technologies, components, and product solutions.
• Evaluate emerging industry trends and opportunities for product innovation.

Product Development & Deployment:

• Collaborate with management and project teams to determine:
  • Project timelines and milestones.
  • Product design requirements.
  • Product and document configuration control.
  • Product budgets and resource allocation.
• Support the design team with:
  • Product deployment and implementation.
  • In-house production processes.
  • Third-party manufacturing and implementation.
  • Manufacturing support activities.
  • Field support and product troubleshooting.

Administration & Reporting:

• Ensure all correspondence and administrative tasks are completed accurately and within required timelines.
• Manage email communication, inboxes, and data efficiently.
• Maintain a professional image in all communications.
• Prepare and submit reports and feedback accurately and timeously in line with company requirements.
• Draft, maintain, and ensure adherence to departmental processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs).
• Provide statistics, reports, and information as requested.

Qualifications and Experience:

• BEng (Mechanical) – Required
• Minimum 2+ years’ experience in:
  • Conceptualisation and problem-solving of various design requirements
  • Mechanical design and product development
  • SolidWorks proficiency (required)
  • Microsoft Office proficiency (required)
  • Adobe Creative Cloud proficiency (advantageous)
  • Mechanical and thermal simulation software
  • Sketching, concept design, 3D modelling/rendering, and technical drawing
  • Designing for plastic fabrication and manufacturing processes, including:
    • Sheet metal fabrication
    • Injection moulding
    • Extrusion
    • Vacuum forming
    • Printing processes
  • Producing efficient designs with a focus on simplicity, feasibility, cost-effectiveness, and accuracy
  • Creating assembly drawings and detailed manufacturing drawings in accordance with industry standards
  • Developing and maintaining:
    • Part specifications
    • Bills of Materials (BOMs)
    • Engineering Change Notices (ECNs)
    • Configuration changes
    • Work instructions
    • User manuals
  • Issuing revisions and updates to manufacturing drawings and material lists
  • Providing technical support during manufacturing and production processes
  • Interfacing with customers, analysing requirements, and compiling requirement specifications (advantageous)

Highly Advantageous:

• Basic electrical and electronic knowledge and experience
• Hands-on experience installing electronic, IT, M2M, and IoT systems
• Customer-facing technical support and requirements gathering experience
