Job Title:
Tax Reporting Accountant
Responsibilities:
- Consolidate month-end financial information and prepare reports for various stakeholders.
- Compile monthly and quarterly reporting packs for Head Office and internal Business Units.
- Upload Actual, Forecast, and Budget data into Hyperion and Prevero.
- Oversee the preparation and consolidation of annual financial statements and statutory reports.
- Review intercompany transactions and ensure compliance with tax and statutory requirements.
- Serve as the primary contact for Head Office/Canada on all Hyperion and financial reporting-related queries.
- Prepare financial inputs for quarterly Board reports and monthly EXCO packs.
- Integrate commercial and financial reporting to support strategic business decision-making.
- Perform and manage tax calculations, submissions, and compliance activities, including Income Tax, VAT, PAYE, and Withholding Tax (WHT), ensuring adherence to all filing deadlines.
- Support, coordinate, and manage internal and external audit processes.
- Provide leadership, guidance, and oversight to the financial and commercial reporting team.
- Prepare, monitor, and forecast Days Sales Outstanding (DSO) metrics.
- Participate in monthly and quarterly Business Unit reviews to gain insight into operational and financial performance.
- Review, challenge, and consolidate quarterly forecasts across the business.
- Conduct ad hoc financial analyses, investigations, and performance reviews as required.
- Support merger and acquisition activities, including financial due diligence, analysis, and integration requirements.
- Manage and streamline the statutory structure of the organisation and associated entities.
- Drive continuous improvement of financial reporting processes, controls, and systems.
- Ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, tax legislation, and corporate governance requirements.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders to support effective financial management and reporting.
- Provide financial insights and recommendations to support business planning, forecasting, and decision-making.
- Monitor financial performance and identify risks, trends, and opportunities for improvement across Business Units.
Qualifications and Skills:
- Qualified CA(SA) or CTA with completed articles.
- Minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including financial modelling (evidence of modelling experience required).
- Proven experience with Oracle and Hyperion (non-negotiable).
- Strong technical knowledge of IFRS.
- Sound understanding of tax legislation and compliance requirements.
- Previous consulting experience would be advantageous.
- Exposure to operations across Africa is beneficial.
- Strong people management and leadership skills, with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of the business.
- Commercially astute with strong business acumen.
- Proactive, highly organised, and self-motivated.
- Adaptable and resourceful in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong organisational, planning, and time management abilities.
