Job Title:
Environmental Officer - Gauteng
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking an Environmental Officer in Construction to oversee and ensure compliance with environmental regulations, legislation, and policies throughout construction activities.
Responsibilities:
- Knowledge of the National Environmental Management Act (NEMA), Occupational Health and Safety Act (OHSA), municipal bylaws, and company policies and procedures
- Understanding of environmental regulations and compliance requirements
- Knowledge and implementation of ISO 14001 Environmental Management Systems
- Understanding of construction processes, operations, and equipment
- Knowledge of construction materials, including bitumen products (stable mix emulsion, bitumen rubber, hot bitumen), diesel, petrol, oils, and cement
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in English
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities
- General reasoning and critical thinking skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications
- Strong planning, organisational, prioritisation, and time management skills
Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science degree (3-year qualification) or equivalent
- Minimum of 5 years’ civil experience
- Registered with SACNASP or EAPASA
