Job Title:
Financial Accountant
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Financial Accountant to join their Tax and Financial Accounting department. This role is responsible for accurately recording financial transactions in the General Ledger in accordance with International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS), ensuring accurate internal and external reporting of the organisation’s financial performance and overall financial position. The successful candidate will be responsible for originating accounting information and ensuring that financial data required for reporting purposes is complete, accurate, and available when needed. Key responsibilities include collecting, analysing, investigating, and maintaining financial data, as well as preparing detailed reconciliations. The role reports to the Team Leader, who reports to the Operational Manager.
Responsibilities:
- Process and account for fixed asset transactions, including purchases, depreciation, and disposals, in line with internal policies
- Prepare quarterly fixed asset reconciliations to ensure accurate recording
- Prepare cash flow forecasts in collaboration with internal stakeholders to identify potential cash inflows and outflows
- Ensure all open items on bank suspense accounts are cleared through the posting of bank and cash transactions
- Prepare monthly bank reconciliations to ensure completeness and accuracy of accounting records
- Reconcile investment General Ledger accounts
- Perform bank administration tasks, including the preparation of instruction letters
- Perform investment administration tasks, including the preparation of investment settlement instructions
Qualifications and Experience:
- BCom degree in Accounting
- Minimum of 3 years’ experience in financial accounting
- Experience working in an SAP environment
