Logistics Risk Co-ordinator
Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Logistics Risk Coordinator Coordinator to support the secure storage, handling, movement, and regulatory compliance of high-value cargo within a secure vault operations environment. The role is responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient management of valuable assets while maintaining adherence to all relevant security protocols, operational procedures, and regulatory requirements.
Skills & Responsibilities:
- Support secure, compliant, and efficient vault operations, ensuring the safeguarding of valuable cargo and the prevention of losses, breaches, and security incidents.
- Provide operational, compliance, risk management, and business continuity support to the Vault Operations Manager.
- Coordinate the receiving, storage, handling, and dispatch of high-value cargo.
- Maintain accurate inventory records, cargo tracking, and supporting documentation.
- Identify, assess, monitor, and report operational, security, and logistics-related risks.
- Champion risk management and business continuity initiatives, including risk reviews, assessments, and continuity planning activities.
- Ensure compliance with customs regulations, aviation requirements, safety standards, and internal policies and procedures.
- Coordinate logistics activities to facilitate the timely and secure movement of cargo.
- Support internal and external audits, including the implementation and tracking of corrective actions.
- Build and maintain effective relationships with internal teams, clients, regulators, and external stakeholders.
- Maintain and update standard operating procedures (SOPs), permits, registers, and operational records.
- Support SHEQ (Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality) programs and emergency preparedness initiatives.
- Act as the operational backup to the Vault Operations Manager when required.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and operational management systems.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making abilities.
- Effective logistics planning and coordination skills.
- Experience in risk management and business continuity management (BCM) coordination and monitoring.
- Excellent organisational, planning, and multitasking capabilities.
- Strong stakeholder engagement, relationship management, and communication skills.
- Competent in report writing, documentation, and record management.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure while managing sensitive and confidential information.
- Knowledge of shipment tracking, cargo visibility, and logistics management systems.
- Contract administration and stakeholder management capability.
- Strong attention to detail with a focus on accuracy and compliance.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced operational environment.
Knowledge:
- Strong understanding of valuable cargo logistics and secure cargo handling requirements.
- Working knowledge of risk management principles, control frameworks, and mitigation strategies.
- Experience applying Business Continuity Management (BCM) principles and supporting continuity planning activities.
- Sound knowledge of regulatory and compliance requirements, including:
- Customs and Excise regulations (SARS)
- Aviation regulations (CAA and IATA)
- Safety, Health, Environment, and Quality (SHEQ) requirements
- POPIA and information security protocols
- Experience with inventory control, operational record management, and audit processes.
- Understanding of Dangerous Goods Regulations (DGR) and their application within logistics and cargo operations.
- Knowledge of security procedures, compliance standards, and best practices within controlled operational environments.
Qualifications and Experience:
- Grade 12 / Matric certificate.
- Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3–5 years’ experience in logistics, supply chain operations, or a similar environment.
- Proven experience handling valuable or vulnerable cargo within risk-controlled, compliance-driven, or security-sensitive environments.
- Experience in freight forwarding, customs clearance, secure transport operations, or related logistics functions.
- Exposure to aviation, customs, or regulated cargo environments will be advantageous.
- Sound understanding of logistics processes, cargo movement, compliance requirements, and operational risk management.
