Job Purpose:
Our client is seeking a Logistics Dispatch Manager to oversee and optimise daily dispatch operations, ensuring the efficient, timely, and safe delivery of goods. The successful candidate will be responsible for planning and coordinating delivery schedules, managing drivers, vehicles, and dispatch staff, optimising delivery routes, overseeing inventory movement and loading processes, resolving delivery and customer service issues, maintaining accurate operational records, and ensuring compliance with all relevant health, safety, and transport regulations. This role requires a proactive leader with strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills who can drive operational efficiency while maintaining high service standards.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise, lead, and motivate the dispatch team, ensuring adherence to company policies, procedures, and performance standards.
- Plan and optimise daily dispatch operations, including resource allocation, delivery schedules, route planning, and vehicle assignments.
- Coordinate all deliveries and collections, communicating effectively with drivers and collaborating with internal departments to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Oversee loading operations, ensuring goods are accurately picked, safely loaded, quality checked, and dispatched on time, while managing all related documentation, including returned goods.
- Manage inventory and stock control processes, maintaining accurate records and ensuring company vehicles are serviced and maintained according to operational standards.
- Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations, transport legislation, and company policies, while monitoring fleet performance and vehicle tracking.
- Resolve customer queries, delivery issues, delays, and operational challenges in a timely and professional manner.
- Maintain accurate dispatch records and prepare operational reports, analysing performance data to identify opportunities for continuous improvement and increased efficiency.
Experience Required:
- Proven experience in logistics, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and logistics or dispatch management software.
- Ability to quickly learn and effectively use a specialised in-house warehousing system.
