Sales Representative 

Job Purpose:

Our client is seeking a Sales Representative based in Cape Town, within the private and public metering space, focused on selling electricity, water, and gas metering solutions and products. The ideal candidate is a results-driven, technically minded individual who actively seeks out and engages customer prospects. This role involves delivering complete and tailored solutions to meet customer needs, driving both top- and bottom-line revenue growth and overall profitability.

 Responsibilities

  • Promote the company’s products and services
  • Achieve sales targets and stay within budget
  • Analyse pricing, market demand, and competitor activity
  • Engage with customers and technical teams to assess equipment needs and determine system requirements
  • Conduct market research and cold calling to identify new customers and opportunities
  • Develop detailed proposals and manage formal bidding documentation
  • Prepare and deliver compelling sales presentations and solution demonstrations
  • Communicate new product developments to existing and prospective clients
  • Provide accurate sales forecasts and reporting
  • Manage the full sales cycle from prospecting through to closing
  • Build and maintain long-term relationships with new and existing customers
  • Spend the majority of time in the field, engaging with customers and driving new business opportunities rather than working from the office

Qualifications and Skills: 

  • Relevant qualification
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience within a private sector utilities environment
  • Proven sales track record, with experience in the utilities and metering space (advantageous)
  • Demonstrated ability to consistently achieve sales targets
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to build and maintain client relationships
  • Ability to thrive and grow in a competitive environment
  • Fluent in English
